Aria is 2 weeks old

Everyday she is changing and growing and showing her personality. We are enjoying her so much! Other than sleeping, eating and pooping, her other favorite activities include tummy time and bathtime with grandma and massages from daddy. She is also very excited because Baby Kowalski was born on the 19th--she can't wait to meet Kaison!

We survived our first week!

Our first week with Aria was quite eventful. Eventhough we have had sleepless nights, it has been the best week of our life. She is breastfeeding very well and every poop and pee makes us so excited! In one of our books we read that parents change 5000 diapers per baby--we're thinking 50 down, 4950 to go!

Aria feeds about every 3 hours. Our schedule pretty much consists of:

1) change wet diaper

2) feed for 20 minutes

3) she poops while feeding

4) change diaper

5) feed for another 20 minutes

6) falls asleep while feeding

(this process takes about 1.5 hours)

We have loved our full house of visitors. She has loved meeting all her new family and friends! We look forward to every day with our little angel. =)

Introducing Aria Zarrin Giti

On Wednesday 1/8 Mommy went to bed feeling weird and 45 minutes later woke up with her water broken. In 15 minutes we were at the hospital (12:05am) we were at the hospital and admitted. From 1-8:30 Mommy was in labor (thank God for the epidural that was administered at 5 am) and by 9:12 am Mommy pushed Aria out. With only 35 minutes of pushing our angel came into this world.

She was 19 1/2 inches and weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces. Mommy was joined in the labor room with Daddy, Grandma Laya, Aunt Simin, 2 nurses, and Dr. Pinkus.

For those that are wondering where we got her name from:

Aria: in Italian opera means song and on top of it the eastern region of the persion empire was called Aria...so we found the perfect name for our daughter!

Zarrin: is Shari's mothers name and means Golden in Farsi

We were realeased from the hospital last night (1/10) and enjoyed having her at home today.

Since she is a little jaundiced, our schedule pretty much consists of: Feeding every two hours (which takes an hour), then change (about 5 minutes) then sleep. Then wake up two hours later and do the same thing...on Monday she gets checked out by her doctor again and we hope that she is jaundice free!

We'll post more about the labor, delivery and more details when mommy is less sleep deprived.

I'm in labor!!! Water broke at midnight and now were at the hospital :)

We're being induced on Monday 1/12!!!

Saw the Dr. this morning and looks like Baby Giti wants to make her debut, but mommy isn't dilating--mommy's been having regular contractions since Saturday!Babys head is at the lowest point it can be and mommy's cervix is completely effaced. So Doctor is inducing mommy Monday morning!!! Maybe mommy's body will change its mind and dilate by then, but at least we know that by Monday at the latest--we will meet our little girl!

Since Saturday morning, Mommy has been having contractions 3 minutes apart and we even went to the hospital and they monitored the contractions and said they were regular, but they're not strong enough to make mommy dilate more than 3cm...so they sent us home.
Mommy has been in pain since Saturday, but baby still doesn't want to make her debut. Apparently, real labor contractions are so painful that mommy won't be able to talk or laugh...at this point the contractions are super uncomfortable but tolerable.

We think baby Giti doesn't want to come out yet for a few reasons:
1) She likes it in Mommy's tummy
2) She wants her bday as far apart from Xmas, so she doesn't get jipped on bday presents
3) She's just not ready yet
4) She's a diva just like her mommy =)
